Queens Wharf
THE DEVELOPMENT
A new International Oceanliner Terminal Building and Public Building for the World Cup Rugby Tournament in New Zealand 2012.
ARCHITECT'S DESIGN
Design Engine Architects submitted 3 concepts for the Queens Wharf Competition.
Concept 1: Inspired by the Volcanoes of Auckland and the Pohutukawa Flower. Structurally expressive and reminiscent of a Queens Crown.
Concept 2: An Urban Playground encouraging the blending of cultures and ages. Designed to be easily added on to, growing, amorphous, ephemeral and constantly changing.
Concept 3: The Southern Alps and the Volcanic Cones of New Zealand as crisp white sail-like cone shapes as an iconic formal statement that creates a unique identity that is synonomis with Auckland City.
PROJECT STATUS
